The Gwent Angling Society was founded in 1964 and have fishing on about 15 miles of water, including the River Wye, River Usk, Sirhowy and Afon Llynfi (Powys) which allows any member to fish for both salmon, trout, and grayling. They also have stillwater fishing for wild trout on Talybont reservoir in the Brecon Beacons.
In addition to this, they have several ticket exchanges with other clubs that allow us to fish other waters by arrangement, including the river Taff.
The ethos is ‘Committed to the Environment’, meaning they believe in managing the waters we fish for the benefit of future generations. With this in mind, we promote catch and release and restrict some fishing methods at specific times of the year.
